Volvo Car UK selects NewMotion as its electric vehicle charge point partner
Volvo drivers will be offered future-proof NewMotion home charge points. All UK Volvo drivers purchasing a new or Selekt approved-used plug-in electric car will be able to get a discounted NewMotion home charge point
London, May 25, 2021: – NewMotion, a leader in smart EV charging solutions and a Shell group company, has announced a partnership with Volvo Car UK. The deal is the most recent major OEM partnership for electric vehicle driving, and adds the world-famous Volvo brand to NewMotion’s growing list of corporate partners, which includes Mazda, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), JLR, Daimler and Aldi. The UK deal marks NewMotion’s second with Volvo – having partnered with the brand in Germany in 2020.
Home charging made easy
Volvo has been leading the way in the UK with its range of electric vehicles (PHEV and BEV), and now, NewMotion is supporting Volvo Car UK customers by providing them with fast, innovative and simple-to-use at-home charge points at preferential rates.
Customers will benefit from a smart, future-proof solution that will accommodate larger battery sizes as EVs inevitably evolve, with faster charging speeds depending on the grid connection of the home. Customers will also be able to choose from various options provided by NewMotion, all of which cater to specific driver needs. NewMotion can install chargers anywhere across the UK, including the Channel isles, Isle of Man and the Scottish Islands. A virtual survey is part of the installation process, providing customers with precise information on which charging solution will be suitable for their home to maximise the potential of their home charge point, as well as checking if they are eligible for an Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) grant. If they are eligible, NewMotion helps with the application for the grant.
Commenting on the partnership, Volvo Car UK Managing Director, Kristian Elvefors, said: “We chose to partner with NewMotion due to its innovative development of smart charging solutions, as well as the scale in which it operates in the UK. We were looking for a strong partner in the UK to support our drivers with simple, safe and reliable home charging solutions – NewMotion is the perfect fit.”
Alan McCleave, Regional Manager UK and Nordics at NewMotion, said: “Volvo has been at the forefront of the UK’s transition to EVs with its recent range of electrified vehicles, and also with its recent announcement to only produce pure electric vehicles from 2030. We know just how important partnering with key players across the industry is in improving availability and accessibility of public and private charging infrastructure. To now be partnering with Volvo in the market is really exciting and is another key step in supporting Volvo Car UK and also the UK in its goal to ban new sales of petrol and diesel cars in the UK by 2030.”
