How can I log in to the app?

You can log in with your existing my.newmotion.com account credentials (email and password) in the login page of the app, accessible from the side menu.

If you don’t have a my.newmotion.com account yet, you can register for one in the app or through my.newmotion.com.

If you have forgotten your password you can reset it here.

What am I able to do when I am logged in?

When logged-in, you can search for suitable and available charge points via the application. You can also add cards, set up push notifications (e.g. when an occupied charge point becomes available, or when your battery is full), configure your car type to automatically filter for compatible charge points and see cost indications specific to your car’s charging capabilities.

On which charge points can I initiate a charging session through the app?

You can now charge via the app on a growing number of public charge points. First, you’ll need to log in to the app with your my.newmotion account. Then, when starting a charge session, you can select which charge card the transaction should be registered to. This can be any valid card (from NewMotion or its partners) that’s linked to your account. The transaction will then be invoiced in the same way as any transaction done with that actual card.

You can find all app-accessible charge points by filtering for ‘App Start & Stop’ in the application.

How can I start a charging session with the app?

To get started check that the following applies:

  • You have a registered my.newmotion account
  • You have a NewMotion charge card (or one of its partners). This charge card needs to be activated and linked to your my.newmotion account
  • Your car is connected to a charge point that has app charging enabled

Next, open the app and look up the chargepoint you’re connected to. Verify that you’re ok with the tariff and simply press the ‘Start charging’ button in the app.

Alternatively:

  1. Use the “Scan connector ID” option from the app menu
  • Select the option from the menu
  • Scan the QR code on the side of the charge point
  • Confirm selected connector and charge card and press “Start” (green button at bottom)

Wait for approximately 10 seconds for the session to start. There will be a notification in the top section of the map and the charging will start (the light of the charge point will turn blue)

or:

  1. Use the “Enter connector ID” option from the menu
  • Select the option from the menu
  • Type in the connector ID in the dialogue. The ID can be found below the QR code on the side of the charge point
  • Confirm selected connector and charge card and press “Start” (green button at bottom)

Wait for approximately 10 seconds for the session to start. There will be a notification in the top section of the map and the charging will start (the light of the charge point will turn blue)

How can I stop a charging session with the app?

You can only stop a session through the app that was started with the app. For these sessions, a notification is visible on the top section of the map.

To stop:

  • Tap on the charging session-notification at the top section of the map
  • Tap on “Stop” (red button at the bottom of the page)
  • Confirm your action in the dialogue

Wait for approximately 10 seconds for the session to stop. There will be a notification in the app on the map and the session will stop (blue light on the charge point will turn off)
