OLEV Grants for home and workplace charge points

There are two types of OLEV grants for charge points:

  1. Home charge point grant (EVHS)
  2. Workplace charge point grant (WCS)

Update 13th March 2020: OLEV has changed the grant for home and workplace charge points to £350 per socket, down from £500 to enable more individuals and businesses to benefit. This is effective for installations from 1st April 2020.

1. The OLEV grant for home charge points

Save £350 on purchase and installation of an electric vehicle charge point for your home

The UK government set up a scheme to support the wider use of electric and hybrid cars through the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). The grant for home charge points, also known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), provides 75% off the cost of purchasing and installing a home charge point up to a maximum of £350.

Update July 2019

Back in December 2018, the UK government announced changes to the OLEV grant for home charge points. The update to the grant conditions mean that all charge points must use smart technology in order to be eligible. These changes come into effect from 1 July 2019.

The new regulations, stating that all partially government-funded home charge points must be “smart”, mean that charge points must now be able to be remotely accessed, and capable of receiving, interpreting and reacting to a signal. As part of the UK government’s Road to Zero strategy, smart charging capabilities are hoped to help reduce high peaks of electricity demands, minimising the impact of EVs on the grid and to keep costs down for consumers by enabling, and encouraging, off-peak charging.

The great news

All NewMotion home charge points are fully OLEV-approved for the EVHS post-July and meet all smart charging requirements. Take a look below for further information on the EVHS grant.
