V2G Make Space for V2GX
NewMotion, eNovates, and PRE Power Developers have joined forces to create the next generation of Vehicle-to-Grid technology (V2G), known as V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything), which will make V2G more accessible to the general public.
With V2G technology electric vehicles are able to be used to temporarily store energy, but also to deliver this back at a later moment. The three parties developed a new type of charger: the V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything). Through the smart combination of cloud-based control and integrated design, a connected device has been developed which is physically characterised by a combination of the small dimensions, minimal weight and easy installation, and in functionality characterised by a very fast response time as part of a connected service. This makes the device very suitable for V2G technology to be applied directly at home or at the office.
The cost of car ownership is shifting in favour of electric
Recent fuel price rises have already had a significant impact on the day-to-day running costs of traditional vehicles in the UK. In comparison, NewMotion found that the Nissan Leaf, the UK’s most popular EV, can be fully charged for just £2.37, during the night when electricity is cheaper and has a range of 100 miles. At today’s petrol price of 128.91 pence per litre, a 100 mile journey would cost petrol motorists £11.23 in a brand new fuel-efficient car. When these costs are applied annually, based on the average number of miles traveled each year by UK drivers1, then EV drivers could save a massive £691.08 per year on fuel costs.

Leading the race for poll position in the UK is the Nissan LEAF, with 28% of drivers picking this as their EV of choice. The Nissan LEAF’s mid-range price point and ample battery rage (up to 176 miles on a single charge) may have helped to make this the UK’s number one.
